Hanover Tavern is a unique destination, delivering something for everyone. The historic Tavern offers public rooms and exhibits highlighting the history of the property and the renowned guests that have visited through the years. The Tavern also houses a modern, scratch-made restaurant and pub, as well as the 155-seat Bradley Theater, the original home of the nationally recognized Barksdale Theatre (now Virginia Repertory Theatre).

The E.J. Wade Coach House, a premier venue for weddings, receptions, and other events was constructed on the property in 2015.

For nearly three centuries, Hanover Tavern has been a part of events that transformed America from an English colony to an independent nation; where rebellion threatened that new nation and Civil War tore it asunder.

The owners, guests, and inhabitants of the Tavern have shaped the history of Hanover County, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and, indeed, the United States.
